Introduction

This module unit is intended to equip the trainee with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable him/her operate efficiently in cutting room. The trainee of this course will have the ability to work as pattern master/cutter or cutting supervisors and managers.

General Objectives  

By the end of this module unit, the trainee should be able to;

a)        Demonstrate an ability to use tools and equipment found in a cutting room

b)       Lay and mark patterns correctly onto any fabric

c)        Demonstrate the ability to plan a layout economically

d)       Apply safety precautions necessary when cutting work

e)        Understand the importance of fabric examination

f)        Appreciate a well-cut garment and trimmings

The learner should demonstrate an understanding of textile fiber production processes, fiber identification, yarn formation, fabric formation, fabric processing, batik and tie and dye processes. The learner is also expected to acquire theoretical and practical skills necessary to work in the textile processing industry as textile quality controllers, textile supervisors and designers.

Fabric coloration refers to the process of imparting color to textiles using various techniques, dyes, and pigments. It is a crucial step in textile production, as it enhances the aesthetic appeal, functional properties, and market value of fabrics. Fabric coloration processes are diverse, depending on the desired colorfastness, texture, and end-use of the textile.

E-learning is no longer seen as a technical and administrative tool, existing simply
to deliver content. Practitioners continue to seek guidance on pedagogically sound,
learner-focused and accessible learning activities, and learning contexts are
